Types of prostitution in Germany
Firstly there is street prostitution; this is usually quite well organised and controlled by pimps. Some prostitutes will use the client’s car; others may have a caravan nearby to the area they are working in. Also some of the girls may even go to a hotel, if the customer feels more comfortable this way. With the current economic climate there are short-term workers as well, these girls have a cash flow problem and need to raise money in a hurry.
Secondly there are Eros Centres in Germany where a prostitute can rent a one room apartment on a daily basis. The price is anything between 80 and 150 Euro per day, they can solicit customers from behind the window or an open door. The prices range between 30 – 50 Euros for a short visit with the prostitute, this money is not shared with the owner of the brothel. Meals are provided along with security, most of the women do not live there but can if they so desire. Most of the bigger German cities have an Eros Centre; the largest is the Pascha in Cologne
Escort services are another form of adult-entertainment; these are the ladies at the top of this profession. These girls are trained in what they do and are very experienced, they will offer companionship followed by sex. The girls in this part of the industry are not as common to find as in other countries, but they still exist and are very good at their job. Berlin escorts are around more so as in other cities, this form of entertainment are a little more expensive but worthwhile all the same.
Bars are another place where sex can be found, a woman will take an interest in a man and encourage him to buy her expensive drinks. Sexual services will then be on offer to the man, the bars have a room attached to the building which remains separated from the public area. The bar owner sets the prices and shares the profits with the prostitute in question.
Newspapers advertise apartment prostitution, some of these places are run by single ladies also roommates may organise this form of entertainment between them. Traffickers sometimes use these establishments as safe houses in their pursuit to earn a living connected to the industry.
Swing clubs are another variation of sex entertainment, this involves wife-swapping, paid prostitutes are in attendance. Amateur women and couples are also invited and can enter without paying the flat-rate charge. The men will have to pay 80-120 euros, but this will include food, drink and unlimited sex as well. All this is done in the open; the guests can witness the activities as nothing remains secluded.
Finally in the types of prostitution section is yet another way to enjoy adult – entertainment, FKK and Sauna Clubs, this is the four to five-star establishments of the business. The price is not much different to the clubs that concentrate the area in the North – Rhine – Westphalia. These brothels progressed from the German nudist resorts and public saunas that have been around indefinitely. There is a concentration of relaxation and well-being at these establishments, for instance the night- life custom is not the way these places operate. Opening before noon, swimming pools, saunas, massage services, outdoor areas, bars etc are all part of the facilities to make full use of.
I think even the Berlin escorts would be impressed with the way these Clubs are run, maybe some visited in the past before going on to their current chosen profession.
You would be looking to pay from 35 t0 65 euros for admission into one of these complexes; girls will charge 20 – 100 euros for their services in the sexual department. This could range from 20 minutes up to 1 hour for a session and the prostitutes would be able to keep the money. These establishments are regarded as a perfect working environment for prostitutes, according to the proponents of legal prostitution who acknowledged and approved at least in principle.
Prostitution population in Berlin / Germany
The population in Germany is 80 million; the estimated figure for prostitutes is about 300,000. Half of the girls connected to this industry are believed to have migrated to this country, being in the European Union would allow travelling and working that much easier. Anywhere outside the Union would mean work permits being issued, although there are girls of various nationalities here. The belief is there could be a lot more girls working in the industry; many would not register as prostitutes because of the German laws. A tourist visa does not include being able to work in the country, this is purely for holiday and sight-seeing purposes. So the figure could be as high as 400,000 working in the prostitution business, the capital will have there fair share of girls, how many is unclear.
The Berlin escorts girls remain the elite part of the industry, they will provide and deliver the clients wishes, and their versatility is unmatched anywhere else in the industry.
How to become an escort in Berlin
To become an escort in Berlin takes a lot of training and experience, providing this is done you can expect to earn a very good living. You have to remember that these ladies are at the top of their profession, everything is geared towards the client to give him the ultimate experience. There are escorts who work in relation to the agency, or alternatively independent girls are there to choose from also. When you are starting out it’s best to gather all the information that is available to you, maybe you no someone connected to the industry. If you are considering this line of work, understanding regarding customers is of paramount importance. An escort lady will try to provide exactly what the client is looking for; more often than not this is achieved. A customer will contact an agency stipulating what he is looking for; the agency will try to match a particular girl to meet with his requirements. If on the other hand an independent girl is called upon, then it is up to the lady in question to be able to fulfil the client’s wishes. Experience is one of the main factors in becoming an escort lady, being versatile is another in this industry. If you are seriously thinking about a career as an escort lady, it would be worth mentioning doing your homework. I say this because these ladies are all round entertainers, conversation, understanding, and even advice these girls can offer. Many clients need to talk about various issues, to be an escort you must be able to respond in a positive manner. There are highly educated and intelligent girls in this profession some even have degrees but choose this line of work purely for job satisfaction. So if you are adamant about wanting to become an escort in Berlin, you will need to be dedicated and take your job seriously. As previously mentioned an agency could be the first step, they will help and point you in the right direction. Later on you may want to branch out on your own; if you do a website would be essential to attract work. Legal status in Germany / Berlin
Prostitution in Germany is legal, and most of the girls work independently now. There are some that work with regular employers under contract with the agencies. In Germany now brothels are a legitimate registered business, also they do not need apply for a special licence. Many offer alcoholic drinks and food; in this case a standard restaurant licence has to be obtained.
The girls in the industry have to pay taxes and VAT is charged for their services, this money is payable to the Tax Office. Also worth remembering, cash transactions are the main type of payment, so quite often the Tax office does not see the money. There have been steps taken by the Government to tighten up on cash payments not being declared. In Berlin for instance, taxes have to be paid for in advance, this is paid by the brothel owners to the tax authorities. A set amount is collected on a daily basis; this is something that has been done to combat cash payments not being declared. The authorities were considering charging a set amount of 25 Euros per day per prostitute; this was to be country-wide. This idea was discussed in May 2007 to try and get payments of equal monies back to the authorities.
I believe the Berlin escorts have their finances in order, being they make a very good living it would pay them to.
Cologne was the first city to introduce prostitution tax; this took place in 2004 and was set up by the city council. 150 Euros was the figure per month, being paid by the brothel owner or alternatively an independently working girl. This new ruling allowed the city to collect 828,000 euros in 2006 through the introduction of this tax.
Advertising until 2002 was technically not allowed, but with the new law in force prohibition was not exactly exercised. In July 2006 promoting the industry became perfectly acceptable; advertising was no longer against the law. Many newspapers include ads concerning adult-entertainment, even before the new laws came in they still advertised. A lot of brothels and prostitutes have their own websites, in addition sex shops specialise in promoting this industry by selling magazines specialising in advertisements of prostitutes.
Germany has certain requirements regarding prostitution; every city has the right to segregate some areas where these activities are not allowed. However there are variations from city to city, for example in Berlin street prostitution is not restricted to any part of the capital. In Hamburg this is only allowed at certain times of the day, and it must be near the Reeperbahn. Leipzig and Munich dot not allow street prostitution almost everywhere within these two cities. The police will fine customers who solicit in the street in Leipzig, this city does not like the public activities connected to this industry.
The escorts in Berlin will not have to worry about being fined, their business is run through the internet and by phone, and they never have to visit the streets to look for work.
Germany has now allowed foreign women from the European Union to work in their country; anywhere else a 3 month tourist visa is required. Technically they are not allowed to work in prostitution as a work permit is not included in the visa. Prostitution under the age of 18 regarding brothels and pimping are both illegal, so is influencing someone under the age of 21 to join the industry. Also buying sex from a person under the age of 18 is illegal; furthermore this applies to Germans travelling abroad in an attempt to combat child prostitution.
History of Prostitution 1200 – 1600
In the 13th Century many German cities operated brothels, prostitution in those times was considered a necessary evil. People in the middle ages had a completely different way of life; Saint Augustine however saw prostitution as something which was needed even if it was looked down upon. He wrote a letter
Thanking the city of Konstanz for providing 1,500 girls for the Council of Constance between 1414 and 1418. In the 16th Century prostitutes were prosecuted in a fairly swift manner, this was because of the start of the Reformation and also the appearance of syphilis.
Berlin escorts have stringent health checks nowadays, their line of work demands that these ladies are perfectly in tip top condition at all times.
History 1800 – 1945
At the start of the 19th Century prostitution saw many changes, getting registered with police authorities was one ruling. Another thing was the girls had to go for regular health checks, to try to take control regarding venereal disease.
But there were more developments to come, the Nazi era did not approve of these activities and would send the prostitutes to concentration camps. Ravensbruck was the most popular place to send the girls to; the
Nazi’s had no time for this form of adult-entertainment, or did they?
They had an idea to install a centralised system of city brothels, so their disapproval was not entirely accurate. These controlled brothels were for the use of forced labourers and the military, and operated between 1942 and 1945. Auschwitz and Himmler were two of the ten camps that installed brothels; this was done to improve production levels. Russian and Jewish inmates would not benefit from these controlled brothels, for reasons most of us know about. The staffing relating to these brothels were mainly former prostitutes, volunteers were readily available although later girls were forced to work in these places. After the War finished these ladies never received compensation, a German law regarding prostitutes in connection with Nazi’s made any payments void.
The escorts in Berlin need not worry about money; they earn a very good living for proving the ultimate in adult-entertainment.
GDR 1945 – 1990
East Germany and West Germany came into existence after World War 2; the division saw a big difference between West and East. The German Democratic Republic was now part of the Eastern Block, Communism outlawed prostitution and officially it did not exist. But in East Berlin high -class prostitutes worked in hotels, and other large cities in West Germany. This was to target Western visitors in general; the Stasi employed some for the purpose of spying for them. Female Taxi-drivers and Street walkers were around as well; this was in operation to attract Western people for their pleasure.
FDR 1945 – 2001
West Germany on the other side of the Berlin wall had their own requirements regarding prostitution; being part of the Western World they would do things in a different way. The testing and registration requirements continued to be in force, different areas of the country used varying methods. Bavaria for instance HIV tests were standard practice in addition to STD check-ups. Although this was an exception HIV tests were needed since 1987, but a lot of girls did not show up by avoiding the registration. In 1992 a study was carried out where there was only a two an a half percent of prostitutes found with a disease, much less a rate than girls not connected to the industry.
The Berlin escorts of today are at the top end of the industry, so personal health and hygiene must remain paramount to these ladies.
Hamburg in 1967 opened Europe’s largest brothel, the six-floor Eros centre became big business for all concerned. 5 years later an even bigger one was opened, now called Pascha situated in Cologne has a twelve-floor building. The Aids scare in the late 80s was very bad for business, leading to several brothels closing in Hamburg. The Eros Centre had to go as well, although the Pascha remained open and made good profits in doing so. Since then the Pascha has now moved forwards as part of a chain with other brothels in Salzburg and Munich.
Until 2001 anything that was done to further the prostitution industry remained a crime, this was in addition to the criminal law formed back in 1973. The brothel operators were left in a difficult position, they were constantly in danger, and therefore most brothels were run as a bar. This included a separate room rental, so this was one way to be able to continue business. Many municipalities were built and profited, being high rise or townhouse -style high rent establishments, used for whores dormitories. The idea behind this was to keep pimping and street prostitution under control. The girls rented the room on a daily basis, attracting clients enabling them to carry on working. Now these places are known as Eros Centres, most of these establishments have now become privatised.
The escorts in Berlin have things pretty much their own way now; these established girls are well trained and have the experience to successfully continue their chosen profession.
According to Germany’s highest court prostitution remained a problem to them, they believed good moral order was effected by the presence of the ladies in question. There were also several legal consequences in relation to this understanding; immoral regarded contracts would not be honoured. So a prostitute could not sue for payment, and if they worked outside their apartments could lose their leases. Prostitution was seen as immoral in Germany, on this understanding social security and health care became a problem for these girls. Furthermore bars would be denied a license if prostitution was found to be operating at these particular premises.
There was a case in 1999; a Berlin café lost its license because of activities involving clients and customers. Felicitas Weigmann was the woman in question, and also had a room-rental premise attached to the building. She decided to sue the city claiming society’s opinion had already changed, and the moral order should no longer be in question. An extensive investigation was launched by the judge, this entailed opinions involving many people. In the year 2000 Weigmann’s claim was agreed upon by the court, this ruling led to a new prostitution law being passed on January 1st 2002. The Berlin town district granted Weigmann’s license back again, the appeal was successful allowing business to resume in October 2002.
In 2001 compulsory registration and testing of prostitutes was abolished, since the relaxation in the laws health testing has been made available to everybody. This new ruling covers illegal immigrants, also many
Brothel owners insist on tests being carried out now.
The Berlin escorts all undergo regular health checks; clients are given the utmost respect by these girls so business is not affected in any way, so customers can feel reassured.
2002
The Green Party sponsored a one page law in 2002; this new law gave prostitutes a lot more freedom. The
Girls connected to the industry were allowed to obtain work contracts; this new ruling eliminated the immoral issue that was holding prostitutes back. There was criticism relating to the law being changed, the belief was the prostitutes position had not been successfully dealt with. In January 2007 the Government issued a report regarding prostitution, they felt that the girls had not taken full advantage of the new law. Working conditions and regular work contracts had not been made good use of, and according to the Government only a few prostitutes had benefited since then. So the general feeling was that only a slight improvement was evident, therefore making little change to the industry.
The escorts in Berlin are making the most of their profession, the new laws have not affected the way these girls conduct their business. This part of the industry is the most professionally run leaving no stone unturned.
Various events 2002 – 2006
The FKK brothel Colosseum opened in Augsburg, the year was 2004, this was a very big place but this establishment was targeted by the police. There was an organised crime gang operating in Cologne, they owned several similar establishments, the police believed there was a connection. The gang were Turkish and the leader was directing business from within prison, Necati Arabaci was the man named and police investigations believed him to be the culprit. The police made several raids on the brothel in question; the outcome was they believed the managers were dictating prices the girls had to charge. The managers treated the ladies very unfairly; they were not allowed to sit in groups, use mobile phones during working hours and searched them. These searches included rooms and handbags, also they made them work completely in the nude, and any infringement a 10 Euros penalty was charged. Five men were charged with pimping in April 2006; however these charges were dropped upon a court hearing. In 2002 the prostitution law pointed out that employer and employee could work together, even if this meant the employer was exploiting the situation. The problem was these managers were unfairly taking advantage of these prostitutes; the law stated employers had certain rights regarding working conditions, so these managers were making the most of it. The colosseum stayed in business and this worked to the advantage of the managers concerned.
Berlin escorts in many cases work independently, this way they are responsible for their own business affairs, clients are usually left very happy. The Escort Agencies on the whole are very professional too; it makes sense to keep good relations with customers for business reasons.
